Become a Volunteer
Update: Thank you to everyone who signed up to volunteer! We have enough volunteers to help us with the 2017 Festival. We will re-open the sign-up in early 2018 for next year's Festival.
Volunteers are an important part of the Oakville Vocal Arts Festival. Volunteers help us make sure that our days run smoothly and that our adjudicators and participants have everything they need.
We will be requiring volunteers for the 2017 Festival, happening Monday, November 13 to Sunday, November 26 in various venues in Oakville. The volunteer schedule for our Festival typically operates in two shifts: 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm with the occasional evening shift (7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) required.
We need volunteers for the following roles:
The Desk Clerk checks in participants and collects any monies related to passes purchased. The Desk Clerk also ensures there is quiet in the lobby of the venues and assists any participants who may be running late.
The Inside Clerk provides the prepared envelopes to the adjudicator, announces the classes and sponsors, collects the music, reminds those in attendance of the rules, organizes participants by order of performance and assists the adjudicator with the placement of seals on certificates.
Why Become a Volunteer?
Volunteering provides many benefits. For high school students, it's an opportunity to obtain community service hours. For retirees, it's a way to listen to some of Oakville's talented singers.
Overall, the greatest benefit to volunteering is knowing that you're a part of our wonderful community.
